Shipping aims for the high spots BACK in
February 1990, two young men named Simon
Dun and Ferrari Wong opened a new shipping
agency in 350 square feet of office space.
They
had little to help them other than several
years' experience in freight forwarding
and their enthusiasm. In particular, they
had no staff but what they did have was
a burning desire to succeed and an ambition
to stand out in the fiercely competitive
forwarding world as a name that customers
could trust. So, with a flash of glamour,
they named the company Awards Shipping
But
even this milestone looks modest in comparison
to the network of Awards Shipping offices
steadily opening across Asia. The company
now has offices in Indonesia, Malaysia,
Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand
and Vietnam.
In
an effort to meet the fast changing environment
of the Hong Kong market place, in addition,
in order to cope with great expansion in
China, the company has made restructure
and adopted a new company name as “ Awards
Shipping Agency Ltd ” since 01 April 2001.
Now, Awards Shipping is having ten offices
in Dongguan, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Huizhou,
Jiangmen, Ningbo, Shanghai, Shantou, Shenzhen
and Xiamen. The company has also been busy
expanding its system of agents in Africa,
Australia, Canada, Central & South America,
Europe, Indian Sub-Continent, Mediterranean,
Middle East, New Zealand and USA, aiming
to build a global network.
Awards
Shipping group now has a workforce of over
460 people worldwide trained and motivated
in providing efficient service to customers.
Awards Shipping is acting as general shipping
agencies for two carriers named ` Prosperity
Container Line S.A. ' and ` Fidelity Container
Line S.A. ', which are registered in Panama.
It can boast a range of services, from NVOCC
operations, worldwide transshipment and
transloading to marine surveying, customs
clearance and logistics service.
Also
on offer are LCL consolidation, haulage,
door-to- door services, local transportation,
project shipment, packing, stevedoring and
tally services, lightage, sea/air forwarding
and international removal services.
